A Tall Pour of Oregon Wine

There are only a few days left of Oregon Wine Month, but there is still plenty of Oregon wine left to drink!

 

 

This month, more than 150 participating restaurants in Portland and beyond are featuring exclusive Oregon wine flights, discounted bottles and unique by-the-glass pours. Now is a perfect time to experience how food-friendly Oregon wine is! Dozens of retail locations are in on the action as well with special Oregon wine tasting events and discounted bottles and cases, making it easier than ever to take Oregon wine home with you.

The Oregon Wine Board calendar has over 300 events listed for Oregon Wine Month, and it’s not too late to attend some! We are about to enter one of the biggest wine tasting weekends of the year, Memorial Day Weekend, packed with music, food pairings, cellar specials and open house events at tasting rooms usually only open by appointment. Here’s just a sample of the 114+ wine events coming up this holiday weekend:

 

  • May 27 AVA Food & Wine Pairing – Taste through six AVAs of the north Willamette Valley, each paired with bites. Three seatings, reservations required.

 

  • May 27-28 First Sip of Summer – Four Dundee Hills wineries offering 15% off. Willamette Valley.

 

 

  • May 30 Happy Hour & Dinner with Jim Bernau – Rooftop happy hour at Departure followed by a seated dinner at Urban Farmer. Events are separate. Portland.

Hazelfern Cellars – 4008 NE Zimri Dr, Newberg, OR 97132

The Newberg winery will be flinging open their horse barn doors for a family-friendly barrel tasting experience for $20 per person which includes wine and food with kids enjoying their own “juice tasting.” Hazelfern will be open 11am-4pm on the Saturday and Sunday of Memorial Day weekend.
 
Heater Allen – 907 NE 10th Ave, McMinnville, OR 97128
McMinnville’s lager-heavy brewery will be celebrating their 10th anniversary with pretzels and brats, live music, and beer (of course!). The celebration will be on Saturday from 12pm-5pm at Heater Allen Brewing.

 
Maysara Winery – 15765 Southwest Muddy Valley Road, McMinnville, OR 97128
The Momtazi family will host a Saturday and Sunday “Red, White & Brews” event with live music at Maysara Winery from 12pm-6pm. Widmer Brothers will be pouring brews for the beer lovers of your group and Pearl Catering will provide bites.
 
Remy Wines – 905 NE 10th Ave, McMinnville, OR 97128

Located in McMinnville, the small production winery specializing in single vineyard Barbera, Sangiovese and Lagrein will be selling “Memorial Day 3 packs” with library wine included.

Valley Comissary – 920 NE 8th St, McMinnville, OR 97128
McMinnville’s beloved breakfast & lunch hot spot led by Chef Jesse Kincheloe will have Memorial Day weekend lunch specials, alongside his seasonal menu of soups, salads and sandwiches, for guests seeking a place to dine in wine country.
 
Van Duzer Vineyards – 11975 Smithfield Rd, Dallas, OR 97338

One of the first wineries built in the foothills of the Van Duzer Corridor, Van Duzer Vineyards invites the public to sample a special Memorial Day weekend flight and select wines for $10 per person from 11am-5pm. Complimentary tastings are available for wine club members and their guests (parties of up to 4 people).
